Matthew Wilkie, MSW

Matthew Wilkie is the recipient of the 2020, 2021, 2022 & 2023 Best of Sumter award for Best Therapist & Life Coach. He has also presented and lectured on mental health topics throughout the state. Most recently, Mr. Wilkie was invited to present his research to the National Association of Christians in Social Work conference in Dallas, Texas. Moreover, he has also been invited to participate in a research grant with the Duke Endowment with the University of South Carolina and Department of Veteran Affairs. Mr. Wilkie is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, National Association of Christian Social Workers, International Center of Excellence for Emotion-Focused Therapy, South Carolina Society for Clinical Social Workers, and NAADAC, Addiction Professionals. He previously served on the Board for the South Carolina Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. He also serves as the Minister of Intercessory Prayer for the Bethesda Church of God and SC COG.

Mr. Wilkie currently serves as Managing Partner, Enneagram Consultant, Life Coach and Psychotherapist at The Well Counseling Services, LLC in Sumter, SC. Mr. Wilkie previously served as the Director of Behavioral Health at Sandhills Medical Foundation, Inc. and as an adjunct instructor at the USC College of Social Work and Coker College School of Social Work. Mr. Wilkie has served as Regional Supervisor and Clinical Consultant for the Governor's Office of Continuum of Care. He has been appointed as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners for the Sumter Alcohol and Drug Commission. He is also the Founder of the Association of Carolina Emerging Scholars. Mr. Wilkie was one of forty in the country selected to study the Enneagram with expert Suzanne Stabile. Mr. Wilkie is in the process of becoming certified in Emotion Focused Therapy and as a Licensed Addiction Counselor.

Mr. Wilkie holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and History from the University of South Carolina (USC), and he thereafter obtained his MSW from the USC College of Social Work in 2013. He has worked as a psychotherapist since that time treating individuals, couples, and families with a wide range of mental health disorders and diagnoses. Mr. Wilkie obtained his license to practice as a Licensed Independent Social Worker Clinical Practice on February 8, 2017, and he is also a Certified Addiction Counselor. In 2023, Mr. Wilkie obtained his certification in the Enneagram in 2023.

Research interests: The Enneagram; Utilizing the enneagram in the workplace to effectively manage and motivate employees to increase positive outcomes and success in the workplace.
